Description:

Melissa Müller has written two acclaimed books, Anne Frank: The Biography and Until the Final Hour, both of which became motion pictures. Now, she and co-author Monika Tatzkow present their meticulously researched and enthralling story, Lost Lives, Lost Art, that details the mindless Nazi destruction of a cultivated class of wealthy German and Austrian Jews and the pillage of their great art collections. Beginning in 1933, Jewish collectors were under extraordinary pressure from German officials to surrender their art treasures in exchange for precious exit permits. The authors trace the dispersal of these collections, the fate of the collectors, and the restitution of some of the lost art.
